1984 to now

Released in 1984 - President? - Ronald Reagan

Artist: Lee Greenwood

 Proud To Be An American

If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘ Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.
And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.
That I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
And I’m proud to be and American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

Mr. America

Yeah, lookin’ at the country, It’s not what I intended
Gotta start to make a change, Before you’re a Neverending
Story of a failed nation run straight out of luck
Like a million Tyler Perry Movies
Uh, you suck
All you little haves lots you’re still selfish and want more
Votin’ in your own self- interests now instead of the core
Principles that made this country both honest and true
Free to speak, worship, pursuit of your happiness too
With all this money afly you gon’ be needin’ a big freeze
I hate the size of the fed like Jesus hated the fig tree
As spending goes up, you gotta borrow some more
Borrowin’ from the chinese, Oh My lord
Instead you just tax more, increasin’ the size
Of the federal government yeah to George’s surprise
You’ll be done like Detroit man, no You ain’t comin’ back
Forget it, I’m out, I’m muzzle loading my gat
Mr. America, look what you’ve done
You’ve traded your liberty and sovereignty for lies and promises
Mr. America, don’t you run away
Pick the pieces up and face the problems, you’ll be great again
Mr. America
I got tired of rolling over in my grave everyday
Makin a monarchy of my beloved US of A
You little glitches need remindin of what we were before
And the sitch that lead us up to revolutionary war
High taxes to the throne without a voice of our own
Ruled top down from the crown we wanted left alone
All y’all so soft you takin it year after year
We were fighting red coats while we were brewing our beer
Got my knickers in bind ’cause the winter’s fine grinding
Hard time to fight Limeys try to fly with my rhymes and
Now I’m spittin cyphers through a grill made of wood
That’s how it all went down in G Dubs neighborhood
Packin cap n balls black powder hammers were cocked locked
Click clack, the lobster backs lost the attack ’cause I rocked!
Historical vernacular’s the way that I diss don’t miss
The true spectacular with ears full of bliss
So little homies who don’t know me listen don’t let it twist
We kicked the “Aaa’s” of the “Bees” for much less than this!
Mr. America, look what you’ve done
You’ve traded your liberty and sovereignty for lies and promises
Mr. America, don’t you run away
Pick the pieces up and face the problems, you’ll be great again
Mr. America
Unemployment’s at eight five, when it’s really at twelve
Hear me class is in session you Can’t be saved by the bell
What happens when you, keep printing mo dough
Both party’s have gone green like their name was Al Gore
Yeah but right now you’re high, ain’t you big hitter
But I’m back from the dead now bringing back all my knickers
Man you think I’d say that, come on what’s wrong with you
I’m just talking about my short pants that tuck into my shoe
But let’s get back to the first point I was trying to make
The degradation of our freedoms and our country at stake
The government’s getting grand, while private sector grows smaller
Pour one out for your homies, cuz here comes the cold water
Unemployment’s still rising, our debt’s growing still
The only change that you’ll get, is being left with the bill
Mr. America, look what you’ve done
You’ve traded your liberty and sovereignty for lies and promises
Mr. America, don’t you run away
Pick the pieces up and face the problems, you’ll be great again
Mr. America

So much has changed in the last 28 years.  With the reelection of the president, I worry that song number one will cease to be true.

We will not have our freedom.
Why can the country not see this?
Why did we re-elect a president that stands for all the wrong things?

Are people truly so greedy and lazy to think that welfare, food stamps and the government taking over is really the right way?

Romney's campaign was all about growth, getting jobs...The America I now know, they don't want jobs.  They don't want to work.  They want the government to take care of them.

I am sick today.  Sick that my children will grow up in a country where the things I grew up with are gone.  Sick that God has turned his back on America.  We have become too wicked.  We have brought upon ourselves the wrath of God.

I am normally very conservative in my blog writing.  I try to keep politics, religion, all controversial things out of it.
It is more about updating people on the status of my family, not a sounding board for my own thoughts.
But today I am disgusted.  I am unbelievably disappointed in my fellow Americans.

November 7

I am thankful that I have made a choice with many others to fast and pray for my country for 40 days.  I am thankful that those 40 days are not up yet.  We still need all the help we can get to get this country on the right track.
America is failing.
I pray everyday that my children will have the strength to live in these times, and that they live through them.  I am so fearful of the path that we are on and I know that my family is in for some very hard times.  It breaks my heart that my children are going to have to deal with so much evil.
I am so very thankful that I am strong, and that I can teach my little girls that they too can be strong.

Distracting

I loaded a bunch of new photos, and have a few cute things to share, but here I am completely distracted by the election results.  The updates are going to have to wait until tomorrow, or when ever I can focus again!

Socks

There is quite a lot of hard flooring here at Pop's house, and the girls have been slipping and sliding in their socks.  So instead of going and buying skidproof socks at about 5 dollars a piece, I had an idea to make my own skidproofing.

Here is what I did.  Got some "puff paint" and striped the bottoms.  It actually works too.  Not as well as the socks that are 5 dollars I am sure, but enough to stop the girls from slipping and falling all the time.

My Country

I am so thankful to have been born into a country that is free.  I am thankful that I have the opportunity to vote.  I am thankful that I grew up in a family that taught me the value of hard work.
I am thankful they also were involved in local politics and showed us their passion for doing the right thing, and if you dont like something, do something about it.

VOTE.

My Family

I feel so blessed to have been raised in the family I have.  My parents have always set such a great example and many of the good things we learned we learned just by watching them.
They have always been strong in their faith in God and served him in so many ways.

My family is blessed in many ways because of the faithfulness of my parents.  Many of my blessings are from their prayers.

My Brothers and Sisters as well.  They are all the best kind of people and I am so thankful that I have a good caring family.

November 4

My husbands family.

My family could not be in Texas if it were not for Bens family.
I am so very thankful that his Grandfather so graciously has opened his home to all of us, and has been so very helpful in so many ways.
I am thankful that his Mom, Dad and sister could help us in our move down here.

They have been so fantastic and I feel so very blessed that I have married into such a wonderful family.

November 3

My children.

There are so many things that I am thankful for when it comes to these two very special little girls.  I am thankful that though there were complications in the pregnancy that everything turned out fine.  I am thankful that even though they had to be in the NICU and the Pediactric ward of the hospital they were there for very minor reasons.  I am thankful that I found an excellent Pediatrican in the Tri-cities.  (I am praying I can find one of his caliber here...)  I am thankful that I was able to move to Texas and so far that I have been able to stay home with them.  They are the most wonderful thing to ever happen to me.  They are beautiful, funny, bright, loving little girls and they bring me unmeasurable joy each day.

November 2

I am thankful for a fantastic Husband, Father of my children and friend.  I am also thankful that these are all the same man!
I have been so blessed to have been led to Ben.  He has made my life whole.
There is no doubt in my mind that the Lord had a hand in my meeting and starting to date Ben.
The Lord kept pushing me faster with this relationship.  I dont know why, but I am glad I stuck with it even though there were times where things were moving too fast for my comfort.
I have been blessed so many times over since meeting and marrying Ben.  I am Thankful for everything that he has brought to my life.

November 1

I ran across a blog the other day where the owner had chosen a topic about which she was thankful for for each day of November.
I am going to copy this idea because I feel at this time in my life I have so many increadible blessings in which I thank God for every day.  My daily prayers are getting pretty long because I have so much to thank him for.  On the flip side, I also have so many things that I need his help with!

November 1st

First and formost.  I am thankful to know that there is a God.  And that he loves me.  That no matter where I have been in my life he has been there for me.  Watching me, guiding me, and teaching me lessons that I needed to learn.
